President Arroyo awards Medal of Merit to the Late Francis Magalona


MalacaƱang on Wednesday awarded the late Francis Magalona with a posthumous Presidential Medal of Merit for promoting patriotism through his music.

The award was given to his family received by Pia Arroyo Magalona in the Palace’s Reception Hall.

Aside from the family of the "Master Rapper" there was his colleagues in the showbiz industry Dangerous Drugs Board Chairman Vicente "Tito" Sotto III, Vic Sotto, and Joey De Leon: the notable TVJ of showbiz.

This award was presented to Francis Magalona due to his excellence and patriotism indeed in the art of singing and composing songs with themes of heroism, nationalism and patriotism. Indeed the "Master Rapper" is an excellent example for the youth.

As remembered Magalona passed away last March 6 after succumbing to leukemia. He was 44 years old. For the last time "Kiko" So long and Thanks for your Music.
